We drove for almost 2 hours to Leona General Store after seeing Mike Chen's video. It was a fun trip. They served fried catfish on Thursday 5:30pm-8:30pm and steak on friday/ saturday 5:30pm-9pm. We got there 1hour before closing so we only had to wait for 15min. My steak was cooked to perfection. Beautiful char on the outside while still being juicy an tender. The seasoning was simple yet effective, bringing out the natural flavors of the meat without overpowering it. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, with the vibe of a small-town gem. The staff was friendly and attentive. Leon General Store may not be your typical steakhouse, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

My man's favorite place to get a steak, as he is happy to share with anyone he meets-anywhere, anytime! If you came for the salad, go home! This is steak all the way. To quote our waitress, Emily, "We start at a 10 oz ribeye and go as big as you want." The effort to get here - navigating the limited hours (Thurs, Fri, Sat evenings only) and isolated location (smack dab in the middle of nowhere!) and the sparse menu - steak and chicken) could make you wonder if its worth it. Ask any of those doningbwith us and the answer will be a resounding Yes!

Traditional TX gem for steaks that has no frills. It's worth the trip from Dallas or Houston.

We went on a Saturday. Got there at 3:30p and were the second people in line. Others got there shortly after and it got more crowded closer to 4:30p. The vibe while waiting is nice. You can go next door to the soda shop. Everyone is drinking (it's BYOB) and just having a great time. Everyone was super nice. Outside of a dry aged steak, this is the best restaurant steak I've had. It's similar to the ribeye at Texas Roadhouse but it's seasoned so well! I'm definitely coming back. The only gripe I have is that I wish the salad bar had more toppings but honestly the salad dressing made up for that.

We've been driving back and forth between Dallas and Houston for years and have always meant to stop by Leona General Store for a steak. Their hours are a bit weird though and they're only open like 3 days a week (Thurs- Sat 5:30-8:30/9), so aligning the drive to make it there during those hours while making it to our destination in a decent hour is a bit tough to say the least, but the stars aligned and we finally managed to do it. This place is pretty big for how it looks outside! The interior is decorated with animal skulls, at least where we were sitting and our toddler did not like it. There's a salad bar and they ask what size steak you want and how you like it cooked. Comes with a salad and a roll! Steak was seasoned and cooked well, and you can get any size you like! Service was friendly, and fairly quick! They get busy though so there might be a little wait for the steaks. Worth the visit and I hope the stars align again so we can come back!

I researched the Yelp search for great steakhouses in Texas and the Leona General Store came up. This place is not too far from Houston, yes 1hour and 45 minutes , but well worth the trip. Not some fancy overpriced place in Houston where you pay for atmosphere more than quality. This is a down home, small, I mean small town steakhouse with genuine folks enjoying good steaks. Well worth the drive.

Excellent steak, cheddar garlic mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and desserts! Expect to wait in a line at opening, though the crowd thinned out on Friday around 6:30 pm. The lettuce bar with crackers and grape tomatoes comes with the option of ranch, thousand island, or Italian dressing. Ranch is a safe choice. My 10 oz steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, with a lightly charred and crispy exterior and juicy interior. The sides are both so good, my only complaint is that I want more of the rolls and potatoes. We ended the meal with pecan and peach cobblers with ice cream on each. We agreed that the pecan was the stronger of the two. Looking forward to my next visit

We took our first trip to Leona's 6/29 because my husband saw a YouTube post about this place. Hubby thought they opened at 4:30 but when we arrived at 4:45, we saw a long line waiting for the 5:30 opening . Let me say the wait was worth it! This was one of the best steaks I have ever had. The menu is simple, there isn't one.....Friday and Saturday is steak. You tell them what ounce you want (going up in 2oz increments) and the level of doneness. Comes with mashed potatoes and a roll and a trip to the salad bar ( just lettuce and dressing). My steak was definitely over 14oz and was thicker than my husband's and son's. Mine wasn't quite as tender as theirs but it was so good that you don't need steak sauce. The rolls were so good that we also got a half dozen to go. I will come back again for sure! The place is BYOB so that is great if you'd like beer or wine. Other than steak, you can get a chicken breast or pork but we didn't drive from Houston for anything but a steak. The waiters moved quickly with a purpose which is what you have to do when you pack a full day's worth of diners in a 4 hour period. Until next time......

Best ribeye ever! I'm not partial to the Ribeye cut do to the extra fat however, the quality of cut was superb.

Made my 1st visit to the famed Leona General Store with a group of friends & had basically the best steak I've ever put in my mouth. The 12oz ribeye cooked medium was absolutely perfect, as were the buttered semi-mashed potatoes as a side. Topped it off with a bowl of warm peach cobbler & I left fat n happy. Largely on luck, we got in the coolest of 3 seating areas, but I'm also keenly aware that the other rooms were a lot warmer. If you have a choice, don't sit in the main dinning room right inside the front doors. Service was fast & friendly. I'm already looking for a chance to take my wife back for my 2nd trip.
